This is the second of two assessments for this course. For this assessment, you will create an individual report demonstrating learning objectives for this course and effective applications of models and concepts for Operational Management and Compliance, covering all the learning outcomes followed by an individual oral presentation between 5-7 minutes covering the case study's findings.
This is an individual assignment and must be submitted as a soft copy on Moodle under the appropriate links or by other methods identified below.
Assessment Instructions
To complete this assessment, you will be given a case study highlighting operational management issues an organisation is going through. You are required to carefully read the case study and answer questions about the assignment in a narrative report. You are then required to write a report with an OP Cover page, Executive Summary, Table of Contents, Introduction, Tasks 1, 2 and 3, Conclusion, and Reference List.
- The lecturer must approve the choice of case study for this assignment.
- Giving examples from the case study to demonstrate learning of the concepts is critical.
- Your documents must be professionally formatted and presented.
- All evidence must be referenced using the APA 7th edition referencing style.
- Use current and reliable data to inform. your writing.
The given organisation is one of the leading clothing manufacturers and retailers with an international presence in its manufacturing and retail stores. They have a presence in New Zealand and hence are required to follow rules and legislations around operations and compliance, employment laws, tax obligations, privacy laws, workplace safety etc. After carefully reading the case study, submit a detailed answer to the following questions. You must support your narration with relevant examples to justify academic and other legislative law references using APA 7th Edition referencing guidelines
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
Individual Case Study Tasks
After carefully reading the case study, submit a detailed answer to the following questions.
Task 1. Evaluate the internal and external compliance requirements of the organisation in your allocated case (LO1), specifically:
1. External requirements including relevant regulations, legislation, and policies.
2. Internal requirements including quality management systems, policies, and procedures.
Task 2. Describe the operational issues and challenges for the organisation in your allocated case (LO2), specifically:
1. Internal and external operational issues and challenges the organisation is facing.
2. Operational drivers of an organisation.
Task 3. Apply techniques for operational improvement of the organisation in your allocated case (LO3). Consider relevant operational issues you have identified previously, and the resources provided/discussed during class sessions. Specifically, answer the following questions:
1. What techniques can the organisation apply to support continuous improvement for relevant identified issues (at least 3 techniques)?
2. Justify your choices using examples and application scenarios.
Remember to support them with relevant literature references for the concepts and the examples using APA 7th Edition referencing convention.
Task 4. Individual Oral Presentation
Your oral presentation should cover brief findings from the case study:
· Evaluation of the internal and external compliance requirements of an organisation
· Description of the operational issues and challenges for an organisation
· Application of the operational techniques for continuous improvement in an organisation
Your lecturer will schedule the allocation of your presentation during the final week of the course. The presentation should be 5-7 minutes, including questions and answers from the lecturer and class colleagues.
The presentation should be delivered orally and cover the case study's findings.
Your presentation will be observed by your lecturer and recorded for assessment and moderation purposes.
Considerations to explanations of the findings from the case study: you will use PowerPoint slides using bullet points and are not permitted to include large amounts of text on each slide or read out from the slides. You will be assessed based on the context relevant to the case study. The presentations shall be held in Week 7 during your class time and will be marked based on the criteria on the marking rubric for Assessment 2. Your lecturer will provide you with further guidance on examples of appropriate structures.
